Kono Box Kit
This kite is designed by USA kite artist Greg Kono, and is his adaptation of Australian Lawrence Hargrave’s box kite design. This kite is a very stable flyer and uses latex tubing to join the spars. A good “next step” for young students age ten and older who have made one or more flat and bowed kites. Printed on 11” x 17” bond.
Kit contains sails, bamboo spars, latex joints, lines and winders. You supply scissors and tape. Assembled kits are shown with printed patterns for display purposes, kites will ship with white paper sails.
Recommended Age: Age 10 and up, the box kite is an exceptional flier.
Decoration: The simplest method would be to use marker pens, but substituting the bond paper for more interesting light weight paper with color or patterns would work. Note: do not increase the weight of the paper, matching the weight of the bond paper supplied is critical in the flight of this kite.
Ideal wind conditions for this kite: Medium (a flag on a pole is steadily moving…but if the flag is flying straight out, it’s too much wind!)

This kite is awesome! I did not expect such a dramatic flight when I went out with my kids. It shot into the sky like a rocket in relatively low wind, and was a big hit.
