Hand Papermaking

For 40 years Hand Papermaking’s print and online publications have chronicled the finest work in handmade paper and paper art. In this 20th anniversary edition they explore historical and modern examples of “Paper in Flight”. Their scholarship includes the Montgolfier brothers, Japanese balloon bombs, Burmese fire balloons and the magazine’s first commissioned artwork Divide Light (Healing Man). Made in collaboration with Lesley Dill, Gail Deery and Scott Skinner of The Drachen Foundation, Divide Light (Healing Man) is a 10 foot paper kite documented in the magazine. Included in the article is a miniature kite inspired by Divide Light (Healing Man) readers can fly themselves.
